Devaney's revenge left thigh n' dry

A thigh injury picked up at Wembley of all places has ruled Martin Devaney out of a return to Watford and the chance to show the Hornets faithful exactly what they missed out on.

The Barnsley wideman was snapped up by Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd when his Cheltenham contact expired in the summer of 2005 but was swiftly shifted out to Oakwell on a free within 1 month of arriving - and without kicking a ball in anger for the Hornets!

Depsite seeing the flyer play in friendies at Dulwich Hamlet and Redditch Town, Aidy Boothroyd even insisted that Devaney "was left as 4th choice a place" but rumours since (although unsubstantiated) tend to suggest that a training ground spat with Jamie Hand sparked a premature end to life at Vicarage Road….

Now, after being replaced in the 68th minute of the semi final defeat to Cardiff, Devaney - who netted in the Hornets 3-2 defeat in South Yorkshire - has been given no choice but to watch on from the sidelines.
