Warnock works wonders for Watford

Neil Warnock may not be the most popular man in WD18 (after some certain hand gestures towards the Rookery a few years back during a 3-2 defeat) but he`ll certainly be on the Christmas card list of many Watford fans this season.

His revived Palace side beat Stoke 2-1 in 'Palace`s best away performance of the season` last night to present the Hornets with the chance to go top of the Championship again tomorrow night if they win their game in hand against Barnsley.

But Warnock`s impact on the Hornets promotion push doesn`t end there.

The Eagles have picked up a pair of 1-1 draws against West Brom (including a point away at the Hawthorns in March), have taken 4 points off Bristol City during February and March and held Hull to a draw earlier this year…

And lost to the Hornets twice!

Yet Palace still have Hull and the Hornets to play on the road so have a big hand to play as the title race goes to the wire.

And if the Stoke game is anything to go by, Aidy Boothroyd's boys will be in for a tough time if they are to take maximum points from the do or die Eagles game. Warnock`s after match comments suggested they`re worked in training to defend "against free-kicks, long balls, long throws and corners being thrown in from pretty much all angles".

Still, whilst we await the Palace clash at the Vic in a few weeks time, we salute your efforts Mr Warnock…Good work fella.

(and we never thought we`d say that).
