The last time Dr Watford made the long trip north to Blackpool to watch the Hornets Micky Mellon ran the midfield for the tangerines and Andy Preece showed the donkeys on the beach a thing or two…
Now it seems the chance to look on in awe from the away end at Bloomfield Park is the hottest ticket in town with Hornets fans up in arms about ticket allocation plans announced by the club yesterday.
A bank holiday weekend by the bitterly cold sea with a kiss me quick hat caught up in the breeze maybe not everyone`s idea of an away day to savour but with just 1,754 tickets on offer allocation was never gonna go down well either was it.
Yet in time honoured Watford ticket office fashion they have once again managed to miss the point and over complicate things…at the expense of supporters who stumped up £300+ quid at the start of the season to watch some proper dross at Vicarage Road.
The club`s 'last game of the season` ticket policy has more 'phases` than an overly tactical American Football coach in a teen sports movie and gives priority to supporters with away day history but who failed to purchase a season ticket for this season.
So it`s all good if you`ve been to the likes of Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Preston, Plymouth, Burnley and Stoke AND bought tickets through the club channels (rather than pay on the day) AND have a season ticket…
But if you`ve got a season ticket but not been on the road with Watford this season well you`ve got about as much chance of getting Bloomfield Road as a 'fan` who once happened to stumble across Vicarage Road whilst asking for directions to White Hart Lane!
The only good news is the club have stamped down on insisting on seeing ticket stubs so bang goes the black market ebay market that was well traded ahead of last season`s trip to the Emirates!
