Boothroyd: 'The FA aren't daft'
Watford have confirmed they`ve taken action against Rob Styles decision to report John Eustace for 'inproper conduct` and have called upon the FA to show some common sense at an appeal hearing and personal meeting next Tuesday.
Eustace will already sit through a 3-match ban - starting at Home Park today - for a tackle many in the game describe as nothing more than a yellow card at worst and it is feared the ex Coventry and Stoke midfielder could face an extra 2 game suspension after the referee`s report cited a new charge of 'inproper conduct` when leaving the field of play.
Hmmm, correct us if we`re wrong but a> it`s a captain`s perovagtive to question the ref on key decisions…Eustace was captain, b> the red card was a shock to everyone in the ground so took time to register and c> it was a bad decision in the first place…
But Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd is insistent the FA should show the red card to Rob Styles instead and let justice prevail. He told the official club site "The people at the FA aren`t daft and they`ll make the correct decision I am sure. I`m hopeful that common sense prevails in this situation…"
He added "This is someone`s judgement, the referee`s judgement and when you get into that, it gets ambiguous…The referee is a part of the game but you only ask that he flows with the game and gets the big decisions right."
