Aidy: We had a hand in Blakes heaven
Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd reckons his side played a major part in Robbie Blake reaching his half century of league goals for Burnley after they failed to follow his instructions on how to snuff out the striker.
The former Bradford, Birmingham and Leeds workhorse frontman was only on the pitch for 13 minutes but somehow managed to notch up his 50th and 51st goals for the Clarets with strikes against the Hornets and Boothroyd is insistent his side should have had him in their pockets after a tactical switch.
Boothroyd told the official club site "We change tactically to compensate for him [Blake], but obviously we didn`t do a good enough job on him because he scored twice. We dropped deeper, despite having the wind. If we`d have got a lot higher we`d have negated him…"
VitalWatford can`t help but feel that the Hornets missed a trick at Turf Moor - The backline had cancelled out the threat of Ade Akinbiyi - who always scores against the Hornets - but didn`t seem to know the gameplan once Blake came on.
