'Shambolic ref' gets Watford praise

'Shambolic ref' gets Watford praise

The official Burnley website may well have considered it a "shambolic performance" by match ref Dean Whitestone but Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has nothing but praise for the Northampton official!

The Clarets were incensed by a handful of Whitestone`s decisions during the tough fought 2-2 draw at Turf Moor and insisted in their online match report that he "completely lost of control of proceedings" but that`s not the Watford view.

Far from it in fact as Hornets gaffer Aidy Boothroyd heaped praise on the performance of the inexperienced Whitestone stating "It`s only his sixth game [in the Championship], but I thought he [Whitestone] was great today and did very well. I`m the first one to bang on the door and tell them when they get it wrong but I thought he did okay..."

Whitestone kept up his impressive card waving antics in booking 4 - of which 3 were Burnley players - and that in turn showed the ref marshaled the game well and kept things tight and tidy…according to the Watford boss anyway!

Boothroyd added "I think we saw passion, 2 teams, 2 managers and 2 staffs that want to win. Sometimes it boils over but I have to say that I thought the ref dealt with it very very well… It could have spilled over but it didn`t".

The ref was crap, simple as!! Worst we have seen at Turf Moor this season, and believe me we have seen some shockers. Not a clue and he lost control completely, mind you he did have even better plonkers running the line.

like their old chairman, all the staff of watford on sat at turf moor were bent as ****..... their subs giving the linesman grief & mckay the same with the 4th official all afternoon.. but the lowest ive ever heard at a football match was when mckay pulled kabba to one side just before putting him on in the 2nd half & told him to dive at any opportunity he had!!!!!!!! bothroyd mentioned in his after match report that the inexperienced ref had a good game....... well he & his staff made sure he had a top game from the watford point of view... here's hoping they don't grace the prem next season, ive only watched ninety mins of watford this season & my neck couldn't take anymore..... terrible football to watch & antics to hear & see!!!!!! PREMIER LEAGUE YOUR HAVING A LAUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aidy has this thing that he called 'managing the game'...Players running out to the far corners and far touchline just before the they are subbed, centre back taking throw-ins in the oppositions half. It does get tedious but if we win ugly and get up then who cares.
