Hornets boss blasts Young outting

After enjoying a successful spell of fox hunting in Tuesday night`s win over Leicester, Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has now turned his hand to linesman baiting, it seems.

The Hornets gaffer certainly didn`t mix his words in slating the performance of assistant referee Gary Young after seeing the flag waving loon play a hefty role in getting John Joe O`Toole a red card in the 40th minute.

Speaking after the deserved 1-0 win over Leicester, Boothroyd blasted "The referee was in a great position but didn`t give anything. Then the bloke who was waving aeroplanes in on the far side, some 20 metres away, decided he [O` Toole] had to go for some reason"

But Boothroyd also reckoned that ridiculous antics of linesman Young - who hails from Bedfordshire (Luton, no doubt?) - was the driving factor behind his side`s brilliant rearguard action for 50 minutes.

In his weekly email to fans, Boothroyd added "As we all know there's nothing better than a busy linesman to bring people together and in this instance I think we got a cracker!"

The Hornets have appealed O'Toole's red card after video evidence showed that Leigh Bromby was in place as a covering defender on Stephen Clemence's route to goal.
